There’s a new proposal working it’s way through the FDA the “new paradigm.” If you’re not familiar with it, it would create a third tier of drugs. There would be:

1. available with a prescription
2. available as an OTC
3. and now available over the counter for certain conditions, after a consultation with a pharmacist.

It’s no surprise that the American Medical Association is up in arms about this. In fact, they are voting this coming week whether to adopt a policy opposing the FDA’s proposal.
